‘Slayground’ Teaser Trailer Brings a Deadly Haunted Attraction to Life

A24 has unveiled the first teaser trailer for Slayground, the mysterious new horror movie from Jeremy Saulnier, director of Green Room and Rebel Ridge.

The teaser was released ahead of this weekend’s theatrical release of Resident Evil, offering the first real look at a movie that has been flying under the radar.

Previously known as October, Slayground is described as a Halloween-set fugitive thriller and stars Imogen Poots (Green Room), James Badge Dale (The Empty Man), Matty Matheson (The Bear), Cory Michael Smith (Saturday Night), Chase Sui Wonders (I Know What You Did Last Summer), Sophie Wilde (Talk to Me), Young Mazino (The Last of Us), and Stephen Root (Widow’s Bay).

The movie takes its title from a haunted attraction where Poots’ character works. According to World of Reel, the story follows Smith’s character, who becomes the prime suspect in a mass murder investigation after escaping police custody. He goes on the run while attempting to prove his innocence, all while a massive manhunt closes in around him.

The first teaser takes viewers inside the titular haunted attraction, where the staged Halloween scares begin to feel increasingly real. What starts as a night of manufactured terror may be hiding something far more sinister.

The official Slayground website is also teasing a mysterious countdown, leading to speculation that A24 could have the movie lined up for release this October.
