‘Crystal Lake’ Hits 1.3 Billion Minutes Watched, Becomes Peacock’s Fourth-Biggest Scripted Series Debut

‘Crystal Lake’ Friday the 13th prequel series on Peacock featuring Jason Voorhees, which has reached 1.3 billion minutes watched.

A second season of Crystal Lake has yet to be confirmed, but the Friday the 13th prequel series is already attracting a substantial audience on Peacock. The streaming service reports that the series has accumulated 1.3 billion minutes watched since its October 15 premiere, making it the fourth most-watched scripted original series debut in Peacock history.

According to Variety, the viewing total translates to approximately 3.3 million views, calculated using the series’ 398-minute runtime.

In terms of total minutes watched on Peacock, Crystal Lake trails The Best Man: The Final Chapters (2022), All Her Fault (2025), and Season 1 of The Five Star Weekend (2026).

The series has also generated significant social media engagement, reportedly earning 1.8 billion impressions in a single day and more than 7.6 million video views over 11 days.

Although the numbers represent an encouraging start, Peacock has not announced whether Crystal Lake will return for Season 2.

‘Crystal Lake’ Showrunner Wants More Sackhead Jason in Season 2

If Peacock renews the series, showrunner Brad Caleb Kane already has ideas for the next chapter of the Friday the 13th prequel.

Kane has discussed a potential second season framework, including new thematic territory and a greater emphasis on Jason Voorhees in his early sackhead appearance.

The showrunner has made it clear that he wants to expand the horror if the series gets another season.

“I do know that I want there to be a whole hell of a lot more of Sackhead Jason,” Kane said. “I want there to be a whole lot more carnage.”

The comments suggest that a second season could lean further into the slasher elements that made the Friday the 13th franchise a horror institution. However, Kane’s ideas remain plans for a possible continuation rather than confirmation that additional episodes are in development.

For fans eager to see more of Jason, the show’s streaming performance offers an encouraging sign, even though a renewal decision has not been announced.

What Is ‘Crystal Lake’ About?

Produced by A24, Crystal Lake explores the history of Pamela Voorhees before the events associated with the original Friday the 13th story.

The series follows Pam as she struggles with the grief of losing her young, sickly son, Jason, who drowned in the town’s lake nearly a year earlier. Her life takes a disturbing turn when two strangers arrive and begin investigating her past, setting off a chain of events that leaves the residents questioning who Pam Voorhees really is.

Rather than focusing exclusively on Jason as the masked killer audiences know, the prequel examines the people and circumstances surrounding the tragedy that helped shape the franchise’s mythology.

All eight episodes of Crystal Lake are now streaming exclusively on Peacock.

Will ‘Crystal Lake’ Get a Second Season?

For now, Season 2 remains unconfirmed. Peacock has not announced a renewal, and strong viewership numbers alone do not guarantee that the series will continue.

Still, the show’s reported 1.3 billion minutes watched, combined with its social media engagement and Kane’s interest in expanding the story, gives fans reasons to remain hopeful.

If Crystal Lake returns, viewers could see more of Jason Voorhees’ early days and a greater emphasis on the carnage that defines the franchise. Until Peacock makes an official announcement, however, the show’s future remains uncertain.
