In the wake of the success of Barbie, Mattel is once again looking to adapt one of its iconic toys into a movie. The Magic 8 Ball movie was originally announced in 2019, but it has been quiet on the development front since then. However, in a recent interview with Variety, Mattel Films head Robbie Brenner confirmed that the project is still moving forward.

Brenner teased that the film will be a “PG-13 thriller” and that it will be “unlike anything you’ve seen before.” She also confirmed that Jimmy Warden (Cocaine Bear) is still attached to write the screenplay and that Jeff Wadlow (Truth or Dare) is still set to direct.

The Magic 8 Ball is a classic toy that has been around since the 1950s. It is a novelty item that tells fortunes and answers questions by shaking the ball. The film is expected to explore the darker side of the toy and the potential dangers of fortune-telling.

No release date has been set for the Magic 8 Ball movie, but it is likely to be released in the next few years.
