Dead Meat’s Movie ‘Fresh Meat’ Is Now Available on Digital at Home!
Dead Meat’s horror anthology Fresh Meat is now available to rent at home, following its one-night-only theatrical release on October 12. Created by James A. Janisse and Chelsea Rebecca, the film earned nearly $300,000 across 564 theaters in a single night, and horror fans can now watch it through a new digital platform dedicated to independent filmmakers.
The Dead Meat team announced that Fresh Meat is available exclusively on Pijama, a new streaming platform designed to support independent creators. Digital rentals cost $9.99, with the film available to viewers worldwide.
Janisse shared his enthusiasm for the release, highlighting Pijama’s approach to supporting independent filmmakers and offering creatives a larger share of revenue than mainstream alternatives.
Dead Meat’s Fresh Meat Features 13 Horror Shorts
Earlier this year, Janisse and Rebecca launched an initiative to discover emerging horror filmmakers and give their work a wider audience. The result is Fresh Meat, an anthology featuring selected submissions from the competition alongside a new wraparound segment directed by Janisse.
The team received more than 500 horror short films, eventually narrowing the submissions to 30 before selecting the final 13. The completed anthology features filmmakers from the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, Austria, and the Netherlands.
Janisse and Rebecca described the project as an opportunity to identify and support the next generation of horror talent. They also emphasized their longstanding commitment to horror cinema and their excitement about the original, inventive films being made within the genre.
Fresh Meat Brings Independent Horror Filmmakers Together
Produced by Dead Meat and Hades Films, Fresh Meat aims to spotlight up-and-coming filmmakers whose work might otherwise struggle to reach a wider audience.
Its theatrical release demonstrated an appetite for the anthology, bringing in nearly $300,000 during its single-night run. Now, the digital release gives horror fans around the world another opportunity to discover the collection.
With its exclusive availability on Pijama, Fresh Meat also serves as an early showcase for a platform focused on connecting independent filmmakers with audiences while offering creators a different distribution model.
