Paramount Pictures’ upcoming horror sequel Crawl 2 has added five new cast members, including Richard Brake (Barbarian), Sarah Niles (Ted Lasso), and Ray Panthaki (28 Days Later). The actors join previously announced leads Mason Gooding (Scream) and Emily Rudd (Fear Street), expanding the cast of director Alexandre Aja’s follow-up to the 2019 alligator horror hit.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Charley Palmer Rothwell (Dunkirk) and Flula Borg (The Suicide Squad) have also joined the project.

The untitled sequel is scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 16, 2027, with Paramount bringing audiences back into a world where rising floodwaters can turn an ordinary escape into a fight for survival.

Who Is Joining the Cast of ‘Crawl 2’?

The five new additions bring a mix of horror veterans and familiar television and film performers to the sequel.

  • Richard Brake is known to horror fans for roles in Barbarian and 31, along with appearances in Game of Thrones and Peaky Blinders.
  • Sarah Niles earned recognition for playing Dr. Sharon Fieldstone in Ted Lasso. Her film credits also include F1 and Fantastic Four: First Steps.
  • Ray Panthaki has appeared in 28 Days Later, Boiling Point, and Official Secrets.
  • Charley Palmer Rothwell has appeared in Dunkirk, The Running Man, and the television series Industry.
  • Flula Borg is known for The Suicide Squad, the Pitch Perfect franchise, and other comedy roles.

They join Gooding and Rudd, whose casting was previously announced. Gooding is known for playing Chad Meeks-Martin in the recent Scream films, while Rudd starred in Netflix’s Fear Street trilogy and plays Nami in the live-action One Piece series.

Alexandre Aja Returns for the Alligator Horror Sequel

Alexandre Aja, the filmmaker behind the original Crawl, is returning to direct the sequel. He is also among the producers, alongside Sam Raimi and Craig Flores.

The screenplay involves Aja, Gregory Levasseur, Jason Harry Pagan, and Andrew Deutschman.

The original Crawl, released in 2019, followed Haley Keller, played by Kaya Scodelario, as she attempts to rescue her father, Dave, played by Barry Pepper, during a Category 5 hurricane in Florida. As floodwaters engulf their home, the pair discover that they are trapped with aggressive alligators.

The creature feature became a box-office success, earning more than $91 million worldwide. Its combination of claustrophobic suspense, relentless flooding, and deadly predators helped establish it as a popular modern survival horror film.

‘Crawl 2’ Moves the Alligator Terror to New York City

While the original movie trapped its characters inside a flooded Florida home, Crawl 2 is expected to expand the danger to a much larger setting.

The sequel reportedly moves the action to New York City, where a hurricane and flooding could bring alligators into the city’s streets and sewer system. The new environment offers a different kind of survival nightmare, with the threat extending beyond a single house.

Paramount previously confirmed the film’s July 2027 theatrical release date, as reported by TheWrap.

Plot details remain limited, and the sequel’s official title has not yet been announced. However, with Aja returning behind the camera and a growing cast that includes several recognizable genre performers, Crawl 2 is shaping up to bring another round of alligator-fueled terror to theaters next summer.
