‘Crawl 2’ Will Unleash More Gators in July 2027

The gators are coming back.

Crawl 2 has officially landed a July 16, 2027 theatrical release date, bringing Alexandre Aja back to direct another round of alligator-fueled survival horror.

The sequel follows the 2019 creature feature Crawl, which initially flew somewhat under the radar before developing a strong reputation among horror fans. Aja will once again step behind the camera, with Mason Gooding and Emily Rudd leading the cast.

The July release date also puts Crawl 2 in roughly the same summer window as its predecessor, which opened in theaters on July 12, 2019.

The original Crawl was made for a reported $15 million and went on to earn approximately $91 million worldwide. It also received an 84% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, making the movie a notable success for a straightforward creature feature.

The first film starred Kaya Scodelario as Haley, who returns to her childhood home during a massive hurricane to search for her missing father, played by Barry Pepper. When floodwaters overtake the house, the pair becomes trapped in the basement alongside several extremely aggressive alligators.

What follows is essentially a race against the clock as Haley and her father attempt to escape the flooded home while the rising water gives the predators even more room to hunt.

Details surrounding Crawl 2 remain largely under wraps, but the sequel will once again put its characters in a fight for survival against deadly alligators. This time, however, the action is moving to New York City.

Aja is returning as director, while Craig Flores, Sam Raimi, and Aja are producing. Levasseur and Zainab Azizi are executive producing.

With Aja back behind the camera and a new cast facing another alligator nightmare, Crawl 2 is shaping up to be another creature feature built around one very simple question: how do you survive when the water is full of things that want to eat you?
