A home invasion takes a painfully absurd turn in the official trailer for Drag, an offbeat comedy thriller starring Lizzy Caplan (Cobweb). After throwing out her back during a burglary, Caplan’s character finds herself immobilized on the second floor of a secluded home—only to discover that the robbery may be the least of her problems.
Briarcliff Entertainment will release Drag in theaters on January 29, 2027.
The film follows two estranged sisters who attempt to rob a secluded house in rural upstate New York. Their seemingly straightforward burglary quickly spirals into a nightmare when one sister suffers a back injury and becomes trapped upstairs. With tensions mounting and panic setting in, the siblings must find a way to survive before the homeowner returns.
Described as equal parts thriller and physical comedy, Drag explores sibling rivalry, physical pain, and the chaotic bonds of family.
Lucy DeVito (“Little Demon”), John Stamos (“Full House”), and Christine Ko (“Dave”) also star.
A Dark Comedy With a Violent Edge
Drag was co-written and co-directed by Raviv Ullman and Greg Yagolnitzer, marking their feature directorial debut.
The film previously earned attention for its blend of dysfunctional family comedy and increasingly brutal genre elements. In his review, Joe Lipsett highlighted how the violence gives the story considerably more weight than a typical black comedy.
“The bloody aftermath is but one of several calamities that make the film hit quite a bit harder than your average black comedy. While the dialogue is all barbs and jabs, the violence and the stakes are legitimate,” Lipsett wrote.
Briarcliff Entertainment CEO Tom Ortenberg also praised the film, describing it as “a brilliantly original film that’s suspenseful, hilarious, and completely unpredictable.”
Drag is produced by Danny DeVito, Lucy DeVito, and Jake DeVito through Jersey Films 2nd Avenue.
The film arrives in theaters January 29, 2027.
