Ridley Scott has helped shape science fiction cinema with classics like Alien and Blade Runner. More than four decades into his filmmaking career, the acclaimed director continues to explore new worlds, with his latest sci-fi thriller, The Dog Stars, heading to home video after its theatrical release.

The post-apocalyptic thriller will arrive on Digital October 27, followed by a physical release on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on December 1.

Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars Heads to Digital

Set in a world devastated by catastrophe, The Dog Stars explores the struggle to survive while holding on to the last remnants of humanity.

The film follows Hig (Jacob Elordi), a young pilot living in an isolated homestead alongside Bangley (Josh Brolin), a military survivalist. The pair has developed an efficient routine in a brutal post-apocalyptic landscape, keeping their distance from the dangers beyond their home.

Their fragile existence changes when a mysterious radio transmission breaks through the silence. Driven by the possibility of finding human connection and hope, Hig ventures into the unknown, risking the relative safety he has built for himself.

The film also stars Margaret Qualley, Guy Pearce, Allison Janney, and Benedict Wong.

Can The Dog Stars Find a Bigger Audience at Home?

Despite the pedigree of its director and cast, The Dog Stars struggled to make a major impact during its theatrical run. The film received a mixed critical response and underperformed at the box office, limiting its reach among moviegoers.

Competition from other major releases may have made it harder for the post-apocalyptic thriller to find its audience in theaters. Its digital debut could give viewers another opportunity to discover the film, particularly fans of Ridley Scott’s science fiction work and stories about survival in a world on the brink of collapse.

With its home video release approaching, The Dog Stars is preparing for another chance to connect with audiences.

The Dog Stars arrives on Digital October 27, followed by its 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD release on December 1.
