‘Homesick’: David Arquette, Mena Suvari, and Belle Shouse to Star in Empty Nester Horror Film
David Arquette (Scream), Mena Suvari (American Horror Story), Belle Shouse (Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story), and Alberto Rosende (Shadowhunters) are set to star in Homesick, an upcoming horror thriller that explores the darker side of life after the kids leave home. According to Deadline, production is scheduled to begin tomorrow.
The film centers on a couple whose quiet new chapter as empty nesters takes a disturbing turn when a mysterious young woman arrives at their home.
What Is Homesick About?
Suvari stars as Dr. Abby Morrison, a compassionate physician whose carefully constructed life hides a secret she has never shared with her husband.
With their daughter away at college, Abby and her husband, Gordy (Arquette), are adjusting to life without their child at home. But their newfound peace is shattered by the arrival of a mysterious young woman, played by Shouse.
What begins as an unsettling encounter soon spirals into a nightmare, forcing Abby and Gordy to fight to protect each other in a home that no longer feels safe.
The premise sets the stage for a domestic horror thriller built around secrets, fractured trust, and the terror that can emerge within the familiar surroundings of home.
Who Is Behind the Horror Thriller?
Todd Slavkin, known for his work on Coven Academy and Shadowhunters, will direct Homesick from a screenplay co-written with his longtime writing and producing partner, Darren Swimmer.
The project brings together performers with experience across horror, thriller, and genre television. Arquette remains closely associated with the Scream franchise, while Suvari has continued to appear in horror productions, including the current 13th season of American Horror Story.
Arquette is also celebrating the 30th anniversary of Scream with a special tour and recently appeared in The Night Driver, which premiered at Screamfest. Meanwhile, Suvari recently wrapped production on the psychological horror film Kill Me Now.
With its story of a couple confronting a dangerous intruder and long-buried secrets, Homesick adds another domestic nightmare to the upcoming horror slate.
Further details, including a release date, have not yet been announced.
