Letitia Wright to Star in Supernatural Horror Movie ‘In Her Shadow’ From ‘Gangs of London’ Director

Letitia Wright (Black Panther) is set to lead the cast of In Her Shadow, an upcoming supernatural horror movie directed by Rowan Athale (Gangs of London). The news was first reported by Deadline.

The film will be produced by Tea Shop Productions, the company behind the recent horror hit Obsession.

In In Her Shadow, Wright will play celebrated author Annie Cutter, who receives a shocking late-night phone call from the police. Her estranged sister has died, leaving behind a young daughter who has apparently spent the past five years locked alone in a dark basement.

Annie decides to adopt the girl, but her new life as a mother takes a terrifying turn when she begins to suspect there was a reason her sister feared the child. Could the girl have been kept in the basement not as a punishment, but to protect her from something — or to protect everyone else from her?

Athale expressed his excitement about the project and reuniting with the production team behind it.

“I’m honoured to announce my next film as director will be In Her Shadow, starring the singular talent that is Letitia Wright, one of the foremost actors of her generation,” Athale said. “I’m excited to once again collaborate with Mark and James of Tea Shop, Ed and Richard of Public Pictures, and Stephen and Sophie of Bankside Films, who, coming off the back of both Obsession and Talk to Me, are the perfect collaborators to bring this terrifying, propulsive and emotional supernatural horror film to the screen.”

Bankside Films’ Stephen Kelliher also praised the creative team, noting that this will be the company’s third collaboration with Athale.

“Rowan has crafted a gripping and deeply unsettling supernatural horror story with a powerful emotional heart, and we look forward to bringing this compelling film to audiences around the world,” Kelliher said.
