Rosamund Pike to Star in ‘Feed,’ New Body Horror Movie From ‘The Acolyte’ Director

Following her recent horror role in Hallow Road, Rosamund Pike is returning to the genre with Feed, a new body horror movie that she will both star in and produce. Leslye Headland, creator of The Acolyte, is set to direct, according to Variety.

Written by Daniella Isaacs, Feed is described as a body horror story inspired by the 2022 Finnish film Hatching. While the project has not been officially described as a remake, its premise shares some similarities with the original film’s story of a young girl undergoing a disturbing physical transformation.

In Feed, a desperate mother discovers an obscure collagen supplement that promises to turn her tween gymnast daughter into a successful influencer. The fame and success they have been chasing arrive quickly, but as the girl goes viral, she begins undergoing a monstrous transformation.

Pike also shared her enthusiasm for the project, explaining that she wanted to make a film that explores society’s obsession with social media, self-improvement, and the pursuit of fame.

“Long have I wanted to make a film that plays anarchically with our obsession with social media and self-improvement, our desire for fame without notable admirable skill and, let’s put it out there, the monstrosity of modern motherhood,” Pike said. “Feed deals with all these things.”

Headland praised Isaacs’ screenplay and Pike’s involvement in the project.

“Daniella’s script is audacious, disturbing and deeply human and Rosamund is among the boldest actors working today,” the director said. “I couldn’t ask for better partners to take on the darker corners of this story and I feel incredibly lucky to be making this film with two women whose work I admire so much.”

Steven Schneider will also produce for Spooky Pictures. No release date or additional casting details have been announced.
