The end is near for Yellowjackets. Paramount+ has released the official teaser trailer for Season 4, the fourth and final season of the hit survival thriller, which premieres November 20 on the Paramount+ Premium Plan.

The final season will bring the story of the stranded soccer team to a close as the survivors face the consequences of their darkest secrets. But with rescue approaching in the past and tensions escalating in the present, making it home may prove more dangerous than surviving the wilderness.

What Is ‘Yellowjackets’ Season 4 About?

The official synopsis for Yellowjackets Season 4 teases a desperate race to escape the wilderness before the survivors’ secrets catch up with them.

The synopsis reads:

The Yellowjackets race to bury their sins before rescue arrives — but the Wilderness has its own ideas about who gets out alive.

After returning to Wiskayok, their secrets fester under the growing weight of what they’ve done and who they’ve become. Meanwhile in the present, two of the Yellowjackets prepare to kill one of their own as an old flame roars back to town with plans all their own. Turns out not every homecoming is a joyous one, and this one’s going to sting.

The new season will continue exploring the divide between the team’s traumatic experiences in the wilderness and the consequences they face years later. As the story approaches its conclusion, the survivors must contend with what they did to survive—and what those choices have turned them into.

Why Is ‘Yellowjackets’ Ending With Season 4?

Although the series could have continued beyond its fourth season, co-creator Ashley Lyle explained that the creative team ultimately decided to bring the story to an end rather than extend it unnecessarily.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Lyle explained that the writers considered both a five-season plan and a shorter conclusion.

“What we realized at a certain point was that five seasons would require dragging things out a little bit, and four seasons would require speeding things up,” Lyle said. “And ultimately, given the choice between the two, we feel good about how this played out. I would rather go out with a bang than overstay my welcome.”

Lyle also discussed the creative freedom that comes with knowing the story is reaching its conclusion.

“There’s such a freedom that comes with this being the end,” she explained. “You get to just go for it.”

The co-creator added that the final season gave the team an opportunity to take bigger creative risks and explore ideas they might not have pursued otherwise.

Who Stars in ‘Yellowjackets’ Season 4?

The returning cast includes Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Samantha Hanratty, Sophie Thatcher, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, and Nia Sondaya, alongside Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Christina Ricci, Simone Kessell, Warren Kole, Hilary Swank, Sarah Desjardins, and Elijah Wood.

Season 4 will also introduce Molly Ringwald and June Squibb to the cast.

The series continues to follow the survivors across two timelines, exploring both their desperate struggle for survival as teenagers and the psychological fallout of their experiences as adults.

When Does ‘Yellowjackets’ Season 4 Premiere?

Yellowjackets Season 4 premieres November 20 on the Paramount+ Premium Plan. The upcoming season will serve as the show’s final chapter, bringing its mystery-filled story of survival, secrets, and the supernatural wilderness to an end.

Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, Yellowjackets follows a high school girls’ soccer team whose plane crashes in a remote northern wilderness. As the survivors struggle to stay alive, their experiences lead to increasingly disturbing consequences that continue to haunt them years later.

With the final season approaching, the new teaser offers a glimpse of the final descent into the secrets and horrors that have defined the series.
