Raven Banner Entertainment has acquired worldwide distribution rights to ÒPI, an upcoming Polish folk horror film making its international premiere at Brooklyn Horror Fest next week. The acquisition arrives alongside the release of the film’s first teaser, offering a disturbing glimpse at the feature directorial debut of Marta Giec.

Co-written by Giec and Dominika Kłoczewiak, ÒPI draws on the ancient beliefs and dark folklore of Poland’s Kashubian region, blending family trauma, ancestral superstition, and psychological horror.

What Is the Polish Folk Horror Film ‘ÒPI’ About?

ÒPI follows 18-year-old Trina, who struggles to escape a suffocating relationship with her mother while living in a household filled with tension, buried secrets, and generational trauma.

When her aunt Helena and her paralyzed grandmother Regina arrive, the fragile boundaries between everyday life, ancestral beliefs, and Trina’s increasingly disturbing nightmares begin to collapse.

Rooted in Kashubian folklore, the film explores how family dysfunction and inherited superstitions can transform an already oppressive home into something far more terrifying. The newly released teaser offers an early look at the film’s unsettling atmosphere.

‘ÒPI’ Cast and Creative Team

The film stars Wiktoria Kruszczyńska as Trina, alongside Gabriela Muskała, Magdalena Boczarska, and Iwona Bielska. Musician and performer Pitry also appears in the film.

Giec makes her feature directorial debut with ÒPI, working from a screenplay co-written with Kłoczewiak.

The film was produced by Adam Korpak and Karol Żbikowski of Platige Films, with Wojciech Stuchlik serving as executive producer. The project also received co-financing from the Polish Film Institute.

Raven Banner Acquires Worldwide Rights to ‘ÒPI’

Raven Banner Entertainment, the Canadian genre film distributor behind titles including The Sadness, Deathstalker, and Deathgasm 2: Goremageddon, will handle worldwide rights to the Polish horror feature.

Michael Paszt, Managing Partner of Raven Banner, praised the film’s distinctive approach to folk horror.

“ÒPI is the kind of horror that gets under your skin and stays there,” Paszt said. He highlighted the film’s use of Polish Kashubian folklore to bring together family trauma, superstition, and genuine terror, adding that the company looks for genre films with a distinct cultural identity and a strong filmmaking vision.

Paszt also expressed enthusiasm about introducing ÒPI to audiences worldwide.

‘ÒPI’ Heads to Brooklyn Horror Fest

The film will make its international premiere at Brooklyn Horror Fest, where the festival has already highlighted its oppressive atmosphere and unsettling exploration of family dysfunction.

The festival describes Giec’s debut as a dark and immersive horror experience that lingers with viewers long after the credits roll.

You can find the film on the official Brooklyn Horror Fest program.

With its roots in Polish folklore, disturbing family dynamics, and a first teaser that hints at the horrors awaiting Trina, ÒPI is shaping up to be a notable new entry in international folk horror.
