Ella Purnell is returning to her murderous ways in the first trailer for Sweetpea Season 2, with Rhiannon Lewis facing a new set of complications as her killing spree threatens to spiral out of control.

Following her breakout performances in Showtime’s Yellowjackets and Prime Video’s Fallout, Purnell continues to explore darker territory with the Starz thriller. The series follows Rhiannon, a seemingly unremarkable young woman who reaches her breaking point and begins embracing her violent impulses.

Season 2 picks up with Rhiannon navigating a new promotion, an irresistible rebound, and the emergence of a copycat killer who threatens to expose her secrets. As her kill list grows, she must confront an increasingly uncomfortable question: was her seemingly perfect ex, AJ, right about her all along? Could she really be a monster?

Who Is Returning for ‘Sweetpea’ Season 2?

Purnell leads the returning cast, joined by Jon Pointing, Jeremy Swift, Leah Harvey, Ingrid Oliver, Nitin Ganatra, and Alexandra Dowling.

The second season also introduces several new cast members, including Rish Shah, Tamsin Greig, Taj Atwal, and Jenny Walser.

Created by Kirstie Swain, Sweetpea is based on CJ Skuse’s 2017 novel of the same name. The series follows Rhiannon’s transformation from an overlooked wallflower into a killer, exploring the consequences of years of frustration, mistreatment, and suppressed anger.

Ella Purnell Continues to Explore Darker Roles

Purnell has established herself as a versatile performer through projects that place her characters in very different kinds of dangerous situations.

In Fallout, she plays Lucy, an optimistic Vault Dweller who ventures into a post-apocalyptic wasteland to find her father. Her character’s innocence gradually gives way to a tougher understanding of the world around her.

Sweetpea, however, takes that transformation in a far more disturbing direction. While Rhiannon’s experiences can make her struggles understandable, her increasingly violent actions complicate any attempt to sympathize with her.

Season 2 promises to push that tension further as Rhiannon attempts to balance her new life with the growing threat of exposure. With a copycat killer entering the picture, her carefully constructed world could begin to unravel.

Sweetpea Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on Sky in the UK in November, with the new season arriving on Starz in early 2027.
