‘Sundown’ – Rebekah McKendry’s Supernatural Horror Movie Lands at Shudder

Rebekah McKendry, the director behind Glorious and Elevator Game, is returning to horror with Sundown, a new supernatural thriller that has officially found a home at Shudder.

As reported by Variety, Shudder has acquired the rights to distribute the film.

Sundown follows three generations of women who gather at a remote cabin after the death of a loved one, determined to get revenge. But their plans quickly take a darker turn when they realize their captive may not be who he appears to be.

And there’s another problem: his family is coming for them—and they’re waiting for sundown.

The film stars Olwen Fouéré (The Watchers, Mandy), Camille Sullivan (Shelby Oaks), Summer H. Howell (Carrie), Daniel Bernhardt (The Matrix Reloaded, Nobody 2) and David Alpay (From).

The cast also includes Kyle Mac (Reacher), Elisa Paszt (Monica’s News), David Ian McKendry, Junko Bailey (The Grudge) and Megan Best (Elevator Game).

McKendry says the film draws inspiration from both her own experiences and her love of classic vampire movies.

“I am both a daughter and a mother, and this film allowed me to explore female relationships inspired by my own life while celebrating my deep love of ’80s vampire movies.”

The filmmaker also described the fictional town at the center of Sundown as being inspired by the hometown of her youth.

IFC’s Mark Ward praised the movie as a wild supernatural horror ride, describing it as a film that balances brutal thrills with supernatural menace.

The screenplay was written by Joshua Hull and David Ian McKendry, who previously worked together on Glorious.

Music legend Slash is also attached as an executive producer through his BerserkerGang label.

A release date for Sundown has not yet been announced. Expect more details on the film’s Shudder debut as they become available.
