Ari Aster’s ‘Scapegoat’ Adds Stars From ‘Fallout’ and ‘Get Out’

Ari Aster is assembling an impressive cast for his mysterious new movie Scapegoat, and several familiar genre faces have just joined the project.

According to Deadline, Fallout and Yellowjackets star Ella Purnell, Get Out star Caleb Landry Jones, and Pluribus actor Samba Schutte have signed on for Aster’s upcoming film.

They join the previously announced Scarlett Johansson, Jacob Elordi, and Jude Law.

Aster became one of modern horror’s most talked-about filmmakers with his feature debut Hereditary, followed by 2019’s folk horror hit Midsommar. His more recent films, Beau Is Afraid and Eddington, have leaned further into dark comedy while still delivering plenty of unsettling moments.

Details surrounding Scapegoat remain largely under wraps, however, making the project particularly intriguing for horror fans.

Reports have offered conflicting descriptions of the movie. Some have characterized it as science fiction, while other reports have suggested a story involving a doctor forced to operate on a celebrity. There have also been reports describing the film as a more straightforward drama.

Whatever the case may be, the growing cast certainly has plenty of genre experience.

Purnell has become a major name in genre entertainment following her roles in Yellowjackets and the post-apocalyptic series Fallout. She also starred in the horror-comedy series Sweetpea.

Landry Jones has an extensive history with horror and genre films, beginning with The Last Exorcism and later appearing in movies including Antiviral, The Dead Don’t Die, and Dogman. He also recently portrayed Dracula in Luc Besson’s Dracula.

Schutte is coming off a major role in Vince Gilligan’s Pluribus, the acclaimed Apple TV+ series that premiered in 2025. He is also expected to return for the show’s second season.

With Aster directing and Johansson, Elordi, Law, Purnell, Landry Jones, and Schutte now attached, Scapegoat is shaping up to be one of the filmmaker’s most intriguing projects yet.
