Trailer for ‘Bad Girl Boogey’: A Slasher’s Mask Cursed with Dark Magic

BD reveals that Dark Star Pictures is set to release Alice Maio Mackay’s highly acclaimed slasher film, “Bad Girl Boogey,” this summer.

Having garnered a positive reception at its premiere during the Popcorn Frights Film Festival, followed by successful screenings at Monster Fest and Salem Horror Film Festival, “Bad Girl Boogey” will make its digital platform debut on July 4, with a DVD release scheduled for July 11. Additionally, select theaters will showcase the film starting July 7.

The story revolves around Angel, whose mother was brutally murdered on Halloween night by a deranged killer wearing a parasitic mask cursed with black magic and bigotry. Sixteen years later, when Angel’s best friend falls victim to a killer donning the same mask, they must confront personal struggles, conquer their fears, and track down the masked killer before he, or it slaughters everyone dear to them.

Directed, produced, and co-written by seventeen-year-old transgender filmmaker Alice Maio Mackay, in collaboration with Ben Pahl Robinson, “Bad Girl Boogey” represents an inclusive slasher film that proudly showcases and represents the queer community while introducing an exciting new directorial voice.

The cast includes Lisa Fanto (“Love, Guns & Level Ups”), Iris Mcerlean, Chris Asimos, Toshiro Glenn, Lewi Dawson, and Kate Bonney. Additionally, the film features a notable voiceover cameo from horror icon Bill Moseley (known for his roles in “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2” and “The Devil’s Rejects”).
