Stephen King’s ‘The Institute’ Season 2 Premieres in November on MGM+

The kids are heading back to The Institute this fall.

Stephen King has revealed that the second season of MGM+’s supernatural thriller series The Institute will premiere on November 8, 2026.

King announced the news on social media, teasing that the young survivors are no longer running from the facility.

“The Institute Season 2 premieres on MGM Plus November 8th. The kids are done running. Mark your calendars.”

MGM+ has also released two new first-look images from the upcoming season, offering an early glimpse at what awaits the survivors.

Based on King’s 2019 novel, Season 1 followed Luke Ellis, a teenage genius who is abducted and wakes up inside a mysterious facility known as The Institute. There, he discovers dozens of other children who have been kidnapped and subjected to experiments because of their unusual abilities.

Meanwhile, former police officer Tim Jamieson arrives in a nearby town hoping to start over. His quiet new life eventually becomes connected to Luke’s terrifying situation.

Season 2 will pick up after the events of the first season, which ended with the survivors discovering that The Institute’s operations extend far beyond the facility they escaped from.

Now free but still being hunted, the young escapees will face new threats as they attempt to uncover the truth behind the mysterious organization.

The MGM+ series comes from director and executive producer Jack Bender, known for From and Mr. Mercedes, and writer and executive producer Benjamin Cavell, whose credits include Justified and The Stand. Both have previously worked on adaptations of Stephen King’s stories.

Returning cast members include Mary-Louise Parker as Ms. Sigsby, Ben Barnes as Tim Jamieson, Joe Freeman as Luke Ellis, Simone Miller as Kalisha, Fionn Laird as Nick, Hannah Galway as Wendy, Julian Richings as Stackhouse, Robert Joy as Dr. Hendricks, and Martin Roach as Chief Ashworth.

Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones, The Predator) is also joining the cast for Season 2.
