Jaume Collet-Serra producing Scope Netflix thriller

Netflix is developing a new action thriller with a familiar Hitchcockian influence.

Jaume Collet-Serra, the filmmaker behind Orphan and The Shallows, is set to produce Scope, a mystery action thriller that has been compared to Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window and Disturbia.

According to Deadline, Warfare filmmaker Ray Mendoza is attached to direct the project.

Scope follows a battle-hardened special forces operator who returns home to recover from a traumatic injury. His quiet recovery takes an unexpected turn when he becomes entangled in a mysterious situation unfolding in a suburban neighborhood.

The project is described as a “mystery action thriller,” with the premise putting a military-trained protagonist in the middle of a potentially dangerous suburban mystery.

The screenplay comes from Charley and Vlas Parlapanides, known for Blood of Zeus, and Scott Charnick.

Collet-Serra and Max Jacoby will produce the film through their Jadis Collective banner.

Netflix has not yet announced a release date for Scope.
