Darren Lynn Bousman, known for his work on films like ‘Saw II-IV’ and ‘Spiral,’ returns with a chilling new horror movie titled ‘The Cello,’ which premiered worldwide on September 8 at the Muvi Cinemas on Riyadh Boulevard in Saudi Arabia. North American audiences can anticipate its release on December 8.

Take a peek at the teaser trailer below while you await its arrival.

‘The Cello’ follows the story of a cellist who discovers that his new instrument carries an ancient curse. Penned by Turki Alalshikh, a renowned poet, musician, and lyricist based on his novel, the film is a collaboration between Rozam Media, Alamiya, and Envision Media Arts.

Following the premiere, Director Darren Lynn Bousman shared, “Experiencing the film with a packed audience in Riyadh was truly surreal. ‘Cello’ took me across the globe, from Saudi Arabia to Prague & Ireland. It was an incredible adventure working in such distinct and unique locations. We were fortunate to collaborate with Arab region superstars. And having Jeremy Irons and Tobin Bell on board made it a once-in-a-lifetime journey.”

Producer Lee Nelson added, “Our production comprised a diverse international team of artists from various corners of the world. Our 250-person crew hailed from the United States, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Canada, Italy, Egypt, Africa, India, Ireland, Tunisia, Jordan, Dubai, and the UK. Being surrounded by such a wealth of talent was an incredibly humbling experience. It truly was a global collaboration.”

The movie features Tobin Bell and Jeremy Irons alongside Elham Ali, Samer Ismail, Suad Abdullah, Ibrahim Samman, Muhanad Al-Hamdi, Fahad Alqahtani, Baraa Alem, and Ghassan Massoud.

Born in December, the darkest and coldest month of the year, Francesco Monti developed a passion for all things horror from an early age. A lifelong horror aficionado, his love for films, books, and the darker side of storytelling eventually led him into filmmaking, with a focus on horror, thriller, and sci-fi. In May 2022, Francesco turned that lifelong passion into GoreCulture — a platform created not only to bring horror fans closer to the films, stories, and culture they love, but to give a voice and valuable exposure to talented filmmakers, creators, and artists whose work deserves to be discovered, regardless of how established they are.
