‘OBITUS’ Teaser Unleashes a Nightmarish Parasite in This New Azerbaijani Horror Movie

There’s a new horror movie coming out of Azerbaijan that looks like it could be a nasty treat for fans of body horror and parasite movies.

OBITUS is the upcoming survival horror feature from Azerbaijani filmmaker Revan Jabbarov, and the first teaser has arrived ahead of its theatrical release later this year.

The movie takes place after a devastating natural disaster cuts off a remote community. As survivors struggle to find a way out, they discover that the disaster has brought another threat with it — a parasite that begins spreading through the people left behind.

Things get especially personal for Damien and his daughter Luna, who are separated amid the chaos and forced to fight their way through the aftermath while trying to reunite.

What initially looks like a disaster movie gradually turns into something much more disturbing as the parasite begins attacking the human body from within.

And judging by the teaser, OBITUS isn’t going to shy away from the nastier side of that premise.

The film mixes survival horror, body horror and outbreak horror, with an isolated village, damaged structures, forests and severe weather providing the backdrop. At the center of it all is the relationship between a father and daughter trying to survive while the people around them begin to succumb to the infection.

Jabbarov wrote and directed the film, which is produced by his company Recfilms. His previous films include Without Shadow, Devil’s Side and Aporia, the latter of which received international distribution on platforms including Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV.

OBITUS was also presented at the 2026 Marché du Film at Cannes as part of its international sales campaign.

The film runs 105 minutes and is in the Turkish language. It’s currently in final post-production and is scheduled to hit theaters in Azerbaijan on November 19, 2026.

There isn’t a full screener available for press yet, but the official teaser gives us our first real look at what Jabbarov has cooked up.

If you’re into movies about things crawling around where they absolutely shouldn’t be, OBITUS is one to keep an eye on.
