Rachel Quinn and Amber Perkins return in Megan Is Missing: Evil Never Dies, the new horror series from director Michael Goi.

The disturbing story of Megan Is Missing isn’t over. Nearly 15 years after the original found footage horror movie first arrived, filmmaker Michael Goi has surprised fans with a secret follow-up project that continues the story of the controversial 2011 film.

Titled Megan Is Missing: Evil Never Dies, the feature-length vertical series is now streaming exclusively on social media, with 36 individual episodes available through the project’s official Instagram and TikTok accounts.

Originally released in 2011, Megan Is Missing unexpectedly became a viral sensation in 2020, when TikTok users began sharing videos of their horrified reactions to the film. Its disturbing depiction of online predators and the disappearance of two teenage girls introduced the found footage horror movie to an entirely new generation.

Written and directed by Goi, the original film follows 14-year-old Megan Stewart and her best friend Amy Herman as their online interactions lead them into a terrifying situation.

Both Rachel Quinn and Amber Perkins return for Megan Is Missing: Evil Never Dies, although this time they’re playing fictionalized versions of themselves.

The new project takes a meta approach to the original movie’s unexpected popularity. The story follows a podcaster interviewing the actresses about the viral phenomenon surrounding Megan Is Missing. However, the conversation takes a disturbing turn when the host reveals himself to be a psychopath.

Goi reportedly filmed the project in secret before dividing the feature-length production into 36 episodes designed specifically for vertical viewing on social media.

“The end of Megan Is Missing was not the end of the story,” Goi teases. “Nearly 20 years after I made the original movie, there’s still more to uncover.”

The original Megan Is Missing tells the story of two teenage girls whose lives take a horrifying turn after meeting someone online. Told through video chats, webcam recordings, home videos, and news reports, the film became notorious for its disturbing subject matter and unflinching depiction of the dangers teenagers can encounter online.

Fifteen years after its original release, the story continues.
