Trevor Henderson’s Mayfair Watchers Society horror podcast is getting a feature film adaptation from Cineverse.

Trevor Henderson’s Mayfair Watchers Society horror podcast is officially getting a feature film adaptation. Cineverse has struck a deal with the creator of Siren Head and Cartoon Cat to bring the popular horror anthology to the big screen, expanding a franchise that has amassed more than 3 million downloads since its debut in October 2022.

First reported by Variety, the deal will see Henderson work closely with Cineverse on the feature film while the original podcast continues. The show’s fourth season is also on the way.

The announcement arrives as Hollywood increasingly turns to internet-born horror for new genre projects. Henderson, whose unsettling creature designs have developed a massive online following, is already seeing other creations make the jump to film.

‘Mayfair Watchers Society’ Movie Will Be a Found-Footage Anthology

The upcoming Mayfair Watchers Society movie will take the form of a found-footage anthology, featuring different creatures and stories drawn from the podcast. Among the monsters expected to appear are The Needle, Creekman, Owls with Teeth, Mr. Bag, Anxious Dogs, Scissors, and The Clatter.

Created by Henderson and Pacific Obadiah, Mayfair Watchers Society presents its stories through fictional found recordings and audio accounts. Each episode follows different residents as they encounter strange and terrifying creatures inspired by Henderson’s distinctive monster designs.

Since launching in October 2022, the podcast has attracted millions of downloads, establishing Mayfair Watchers Society as one of Henderson’s notable horror properties. Its anthology format also offers the filmmakers an opportunity to bring multiple creatures and stories together in a single feature.

Trevor Henderson’s Horror Creatures Are Getting Hollywood Adaptations

The Mayfair Watchers Society adaptation is the latest sign of growing interest in Henderson’s creations. Warner Bros. Pictures has secured a film based on Siren Head, with Zach Cregger and Brian Duffield attached to the project. Meanwhile, Cartoon Cat is being adapted into a movie by Sony’s TriStar Pictures, with Roy Lee producing.

Cineverse executives see the Mayfair Watchers Society film as another opportunity to bring independently created horror properties to a wider audience.

Yolanda Macias, Cineverse’s Chief Motion Pictures Officer, described the deal as an opportunity to expand the company’s relationship with Henderson and introduce the podcast’s creatures to audiences in a new format.

Tom Owen, Cineverse’s Vice President of Network Strategy, also pointed to the growing influence of internet-born horror. Projects such as Iron Lung, Backrooms, and Obsession demonstrate how horror concepts developed online can find audiences beyond their original platforms.

Cineverse has also worked on horror franchises including Terrifier 2 and Terrifier 3, continuing its involvement in genre projects with dedicated fanbases.

Trevor Henderson Will Help Develop the ‘Mayfair Watchers Society’ Movie

Henderson will serve as a producer and member of the writing team on the Mayfair Watchers Society movie. He is also expected to remain closely involved throughout development, including the selection of the writing and directing teams.

His involvement could help preserve the distinctive creature designs and unsettling atmosphere that made the original podcast popular, while allowing the filmmakers to expand its mythology for the big screen.

Specific details about the film’s cast, director, and release date have not yet been announced. The original podcast will also continue, with its fourth season on the way.

With its found-footage format and a collection of creatures already familiar to podcast listeners, Mayfair Watchers Society could offer horror fans a new cinematic way to experience Henderson’s nightmarish creations.
