‘Capturing Bigfoot’ Trailer Uncovers the True Story Behind the Infamous Bigfoot Footage
For decades, one piece of footage has remained at the center of the Bigfoot debate. In 1967, Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin captured roughly one minute of film in Northern California that appears to show a mysterious, human-like creature walking through the wilderness.
Now, a new documentary is revisiting the infamous footage and the story behind it in an attempt to uncover what really happened.
Capturing Bigfoot will be available exclusively on Amazon Prime Video and in select theaters beginning October 20, and the official trailer has arrived.
The release date is particularly fitting. October 20 is National Bigfoot Day, marking the anniversary of the day Patterson captured the footage in 1967.
What became known as the Patterson-Gimlin footage has been examined and debated for generations, with believers maintaining that it represents some of the strongest evidence for Bigfoot, while skeptics have argued that the creature was simply a person in a costume.
But according to the filmmakers behind Capturing Bigfoot, a newly discovered reel of 16mm film could shed new light on one of the most controversial pieces of footage in cryptozoological history.
Directed by Marq Evans, the documentary explores the untold story surrounding the famous footage, featuring testimony from Patterson’s son as well as people who were directly connected to the events.
The filmmakers describe Capturing Bigfoot as a story about family, legacy, broken friendships, and belief itself, promising a deeper look at the people and circumstances surrounding the footage rather than simply revisiting the decades-old debate.
Whether the Patterson-Gimlin footage ultimately depicts an undiscovered creature or an elaborate hoax remains one of the biggest questions surrounding the Bigfoot legend. Capturing Bigfoot may finally provide another piece of the puzzle.
Capturing Bigfoot arrives on Amazon Prime Video and in select theaters October 20.
