‘Anything But Ghosts’: Title Treatment Revealed for Curry Barker’s New Horror Movie
Following the success of his horror film Obsession, writer and director Curry Barker is preparing to return to theaters with his next project, the horror comedy Anything But Ghosts. The film’s official title treatment has been revealed ahead of its theatrical release next year.
Anything But Ghosts is scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 7, 2027. Check out the newly revealed title treatment below, with more details about the film expected soon.
Anything But Ghosts Follows Two Fake Ghost Hunters
Barker directs Anything But Ghosts from a screenplay he co-wrote with longtime creative partner Cooper Tomlinson, with whom he previously collaborated on Milk & Serial and Obsession. The pair also star as two fraudulent ghost hunters whose scheme takes a terrifying turn when they encounter actual supernatural forces.
Although the film shares Barker’s grounded approach to horror, its premise allows for a stronger comedic element than his previous feature.
“It’s all going to feel like the same brand,” Barker previously explained when discussing the project’s connection to Obsession. He also emphasized how the story lends itself to comedy, describing its central characters as two con artists pretending to hunt ghosts.
Barker has also highlighted the contrast between the film’s supernatural premise and its otherwise realistic setting. In Anything But Ghosts, ghosts are real in a world where people don’t believe they exist, much like Obsession explores a wish gone wrong in a world where magic is not supposed to exist.
Anything But Ghosts Cast and Producers
Alongside Barker and Tomlinson, the film features Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World), Chris Reinacher (Superstore), and Violet McGraw (M3GAN).
Jason Blum produces for Blumhouse, alongside Roy Lee and Steven Schneider for Spooky Pictures and Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath for Divide/Conquer.
Executive producers include Barker and Tomlinson for That’s a Bad Idea, as well as Ben Ross for Image Nation.
With its combination of supernatural horror and comedy, Anything But Ghosts marks Barker’s next feature following Obsession. The film is set to haunt theaters on May 7, 2027.
