Here’s a tighter, more original rewrite with a stronger horror-news flow:
MGM+ has released the official trailer for Stephen King’s The Institute Season 2, offering a much closer look at Luke Ellis and the other gifted teenagers following their escape from the sinister facility.
This time, however, the kids aren’t simply running for their lives. They’re preparing to fight back.
The Institute Season 2 premieres on November 8, 2026, on MGM+.
The first season introduced viewers to Luke Ellis, a teenage genius who is kidnapped and wakes up inside the Institute, a secretive facility where children with extraordinary abilities are imprisoned and subjected to horrific experiments.
Elsewhere, former police officer Tim Jamieson arrives in a nearby town hoping to start over. His plans for a quiet life are eventually shattered when his path crosses with Luke and the Institute.
By the end of Season 1, Luke and several of the surviving children manage to escape, but the Institute isn’t willing to let them disappear.
Season 2 picks up after the escape as Luke and his friends attempt to find a way to bring the Institute down once and for all. Meanwhile, the Director turns to a powerful new ally, eccentric tech billionaire Nolan Reeves, as he attempts to rebuild the organization.
As for Ms. Sigsby, life on the run pushes her toward finding a way back into the Institute—and potentially back into power.
Returning cast members include Joe Freeman as Luke Ellis, Ben Barnes as Tim Jamieson, Mary-Louise Parker as Ms. Sigsby, Simone Miller as Kalisha, Fionn Laird as Nicky, Arlen So as George, Robert Joy as Dr. Hendricks, and Hannah Galway as Wendy.
The new trailer also introduces Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones) as Nolan Reeves, an eccentric European tech billionaire who serves as one of the Institute’s financial backers. Given everything we’ve seen so far, it’s unlikely Reeves is getting involved without having an agenda of his own.
The Institute comes from director and executive producer Jack Bender (From, Mr. Mercedes) and writer and executive producer Benjamin Cavell (Justified, The Stand), alongside MGM+ Studios.
Both Bender and Cavell are veterans of Stephen King adaptations, making their return for Season 2 particularly exciting for King fans.
The second season of The Institute arrives just weeks after Prime Video’s upcoming Carrie series, giving audiences another Stephen King adaptation centered on teenagers with extraordinary abilities this fall.
