Robert Eggers' 'Werwulf' soundtrack vinyl release featuring Robin Carolan's original score, available from Waxwork Records.

Robert Eggers‘ upcoming werewolf horror film Werwulf is getting a special vinyl soundtrack release ahead of its Christmas Day theatrical debut. Waxwork Records has opened preorders for an exclusive edition of the film’s score, giving fans an early look at the music accompanying Eggers’ latest descent into folk horror.

Created in partnership with Sacred Bones Records, the release features a double LP containing 37 tracks. The exclusive vinyl variant, called “Snowy Nyght Splatter,” features a white base with black, silver, and brown splatter patterns. The soundtrack is priced at $36.

The physical release is scheduled for January, following the film’s theatrical debut on December 25.

Robin Carolan Composes the ‘Werwulf’ Soundtrack

The score for Werwulf comes from composer Robin Carolan, who previously collaborated with Eggers on The Northman and Nosferatu. His return to the director’s latest project brings together two creative collaborators whose previous work has explored unsettling atmospheres, historical settings, and dark folklore.

The soundtrack also includes “Wynter Waxeth,” an original song by ambient folk artist Ethen Cain. Performed entirely in Middle English, the song reflects the film’s medieval setting and its emphasis on historical atmosphere. Eggers reportedly assisted with the pronunciation of the lyrics.

With its 13th-century English village setting, Werwulf offers a different supernatural threat from Eggers’ previous film, Nosferatu, while continuing the filmmaker’s interest in folklore, superstition, and the darker corners of history.

What Is Robert Eggers’ ‘Werwulf’ About?

Eggers’ fifth feature film is set in a 13th-century English village plagued by a mysterious beast. As fear spreads through the community, local folklore begins to take on a terrifying reality.

The film stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Lily-Rose Depp, alongside Eggers collaborators Willem Dafoe and Ralph Ineson. Kate Dickie and Ned Dennehy also appear in the cast.

The official logline describes Werwulf as a harrowing tale of devotion, damnation, and the devil within, hinting at a story that blends supernatural horror with the brutality and superstition of medieval life.

In an interview with Esquire, Eggers described the film as haunted and deeply painful, with salvation through love serving as one of its central themes. He also highlighted the unforgiving nature of the world depicted in the film and praised Taylor-Johnson’s physically and emotionally demanding performance.

The combination of medieval folklore, a mysterious creature, and Eggers’ atmospheric filmmaking makes Werwulf one of the upcoming horror releases to watch this holiday season.

When Does ‘Werwulf’ Come Out?

Werwulf will arrive exclusively in theaters on December 25, 2026. The film’s double-LP soundtrack is available to preorder through Waxwork Records, with the vinyl release scheduled for January 2027.

Fans can look forward to hearing Robin Carolan’s latest collaboration with Eggers as the filmmaker returns to the historical horror territory that has become a defining part of his work.
