What Is Victorian Psycho About?
Based on the novel by Virginia Feito, Victorian Psycho follows Winifred Notty, an eccentric governess who arrives at a remote Gothic manor. As strange events begin unfolding around the estate, suspicions grow that the seemingly unusual newcomer may be hiding something far more disturbing.
Maika Monroe stars as Winifred Notty, bringing another unsettling character to the screen following her work in the horror genre. This time, Monroe takes on the role of a potentially dangerous figure whose presence threatens to turn an already strange household into a nightmare.
The supporting cast includes Thomasin McKenzie (Last Night in Soho), Jason Isaacs, Ruth Wilson, Amy De Bruhn, and Jacobi Jupe.
Who Is Behind Victorian Psycho?
Zachary Wigon, director of Sanctuary, directs the film from a screenplay by Feito, who adapted her own novel. The project is produced by Dan Kagan, known for Longlegs, and Sebastien Raybaud, whose credits include Greenland: Migration.
Combining period horror, dark humor, and bloody violence, Victorian Psycho looks to offer a twisted take on the Gothic manor setting, with Monroe at the center of its increasingly disturbing story.
The film is rated R for strong bloody violence and brief sexual material.
