Dark Sky Films Picks Up Jamie Lee Curtis-Produced Paranoid Thriller ‘Sender’

Dark Sky Films has picked up U.S. distribution rights to Sender, an upcoming paranoid thriller starring Britt Lower (Severance) and produced by horror icon Jamie Lee Curtis.

The film is scheduled to hit theaters nationwide in spring 2027.

The deal comes ahead of Sender’s Los Angeles premiere at Beyond Fest and its European premiere at the 59th Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival.

Written and directed by Russell Goldman, Sender marks his feature directorial debut. Goldman’s screenplay previously appeared on the 2023 Black List, which recognizes notable unproduced screenplays.

Lower stars as Julia, a woman attempting to rebuild her life after being fired from her job and getting sober three weeks earlier. She moves into a suburban rental and begins filling her new home with online purchases.

Then the packages start arriving.

The problem? Julia never ordered them.

At first, the deliveries seem strange but harmless. A blender. A corkscrew. Even her exact shade of lipstick. But the more packages that arrive, the more Julia realizes that these aren’t random items—they appear to be connected to her past.

When the shopping website Smirk denies any responsibility, Julia becomes increasingly convinced that someone is watching her. Her search for the mysterious sender soon sends her down an increasingly disturbing rabbit hole.

Alongside Lower and Curtis, the cast includes Rhea Seehorn (Pluribus), Anna Baryshnikov (Love Lies Bleeding), David Dastmalchian (Late Night with the Devil), Utkarsh Ambudkar (Ghosts), Mike Mitchell (Twisted Metal), Edward Torres (Return to Sender), Alyssa Limperis (What We Do in the Shadows), and Inger Stratton.

Goldman says he was particularly excited to find a distributor that understood the film and shared his vision for its theatrical release.

Dark Sky Films executive vice president Greg Newman described Sender as a film that takes an everyday anxiety and pushes it in an unexpected direction, highlighting its unsettling tone, dark humor, and ensemble cast.

With its mystery surrounding an increasingly personal series of deliveries, Sender looks to turn something as ordinary as online shopping into a nightmare.

The film arrives in theaters in spring 2027.
