Parker Posey is joining the cast of Sleepover, an upcoming horror movie from Insidious: Out of the Further director Jacob Chase. According to Variety, the Scream 3 and The White Lotus star has signed on for the new project from Blumhouse and Atomic Monster.

Universal Pictures will release Sleepover in theaters on October 8, 2027. The film is being described as a “quintessential sleepover nightmare,” promising a terrifying spin on a familiar childhood experience.

What Is Sleepover About?

Jacob Chase will direct Sleepover from a screenplay he co-wrote with Bryce McGuire, the writer and director behind Night Swim. The movie is based on McGuire’s original short story, although specific plot details have not yet been revealed.

Jason Blum will produce the film, while Chase, McGuire, and Bea Sequeira will serve as executive producers. Sleepover is a Cinescape Entertainment production presented by Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Atomic Monster.

Posey’s casting brings another familiar face to the upcoming horror project, though further details about her character have not been announced.

Sleepover marks another collaboration between Chase and Blumhouse Atomic Monster following their work on Insidious: Out of the Further, the sixth installment in the supernatural horror franchise. The film, released through Sony, grossed approximately $170 million worldwide.

Chase previously directed Come Play, which expanded on his own short film, Larry. The 2020 horror movie followed a young boy and his family as they faced a sinister entity that sought to enter their world through electronic devices.

With Posey now attached to Sleepover, the project is taking shape ahead of its planned theatrical release in October 2027. More casting and story details are expected to emerge as production moves forward.
