‘Capturing Bigfoot’ Trailer – New Documentary Sets Out to Prove the Legend Is Real

For nearly 60 years, the Patterson-Gimlin footage has remained one of the most controversial pieces of cryptozoological evidence ever captured. Now, a new documentary claims a recently discovered reel of film could finally change everything we thought we knew about Bigfoot.

Capturing Bigfoot arrives October 20 exclusively on Amazon Prime Video and in select theaters, and the filmmakers are promising an entirely new look at one of the world’s most enduring mysteries.

The date is significant. October 20, 1967 is when Roger Patterson famously captured roughly 60 seconds of footage showing a mysterious, human-like figure walking through the forests of Northern California.

The footage — commonly known as the Patterson-Gimlin film — has been analyzed and debated for decades, with believers insisting it captures a real Bigfoot while skeptics argue that the creature was nothing more than someone in a costume.

Now, more than half a century later, a previously unknown 16mm film reel discovered inside a safe could potentially shed new light on what really happened.

Directed by Marq Evans, Capturing Bigfoot explores the story behind the legendary footage through interviews with Patterson’s own son and people who were directly connected to the events.

But the documentary promises to explore more than just whether Bigfoot exists.

“This is a story about family, legacy, broken friendships, and belief itself,” the filmmakers tease.

Capturing Bigfoot premieres October 20, which also happens to be National Bigfoot Day.
