‘They Follow’ Adds ‘Landman’ and ‘The Endless’ Star James Jordan

The wait for They Follow is getting shorter. Filming has officially wrapped on the highly anticipated sequel to It Follows, and another cast member has been revealed.

According to Deadline, James Jordan, known for roles in Landman and The Endless, has joined the cast of the supernatural horror sequel. Details about his character, like much of the movie’s story, are being kept firmly under wraps.

They Follow reportedly takes place 10 years after the events of the original film, with Maika Monroe returning as Jay Height. Original writer-director David Robert Mitchell is also back behind the camera.

Adding to the reunion, Disasterpeace is returning to compose the score. His eerie electronic soundtrack was a major part of the atmosphere that made It Follows so memorable.

The sequel features an extensive ensemble cast, including Naomi Ackie (Blink Twice), Jackie Earle Haley (Little Children, A Nightmare on Elm Street), Justine Lupe (Succession), Anna Mirodin (Ivan), Jayne Taini (Unbelievable), Michael Gandolfini (Daredevil: Born Again), Tom Pecinka (Stereophonic), Melora Walters (Magnolia), Ben Krieger (Song Sung Blue), Natalie Shinnick (The Brutalist), and Jan Hoag (The Fabelmans).

The original It Follows introduced Monroe as Jay, a young woman who becomes the target of a mysterious supernatural entity following a sexual encounter. The creature relentlessly pursues its victims and can take on the appearance of virtually anyone.

For They Follow, the threat is reportedly expanding beyond Jay’s original experience, with the supernatural force spreading on a much larger scale.

Monroe has previously teased a darker and more intense sequel.

“It’s very dark,” Monroe said. “We’re pushing the boundaries on this one for sure.”

The actress has also indicated that They Follow will have a noticeably different tone from its predecessor, describing it as more grounded and centered on two women dealing with significant emotional and psychological struggles.

While the filmmakers are keeping the story details secret, the decade-long time jump and returning creative team suggest that They Follow will build on the mythology established by the original while taking the story in a new direction.

Monroe can also be seen in the upcoming horror-comedy Victorian Psycho, while Mitchell recently directed the dinosaur movie The End of Oak Street.
