‘Black Sheeps’ First Look – ‘Black Sheep’ Horror-Comedy Sequel Set for October World Premiere

Nearly 20 years after the cult horror-comedy Black Sheep, writer/director Jonathan King is bringing the killer sheep back with a sequel — and we now have the official title, first look, and world premiere details.

The new film is titled Black Sheeps, and it will make its World Premiere at the Sitges Film Festival this October.

Set two decades after the events of the 2006 original, Black Sheeps returns to the bizarre world of New Zealand’s cult creature feature for another twisted tale of genetically modified animal horror.

King isn’t the only familiar face returning. Nathan Meister reprises his role as Henry Oldfield, the unlikely hero who battled a terrifying flock of mutant sheep in the original movie.

This time around, Black Sheeps follows a young scientist who becomes convinced that a dangerous new pathogen is threatening the population. Her investigation eventually leads her back to her hometown, which sits in the shadow of the remote sheep station where the horrifying events of Black Sheep first unfolded.

King and Meister will also reunite with Wētā Workshop, the acclaimed special effects company founded by Richard Taylor. The team was responsible for the gruesome creature effects in the original film and will once again bring the movie’s mutated animals to life.

Black Sheeps is produced by King and Grainger alongside James Partridge and Samantha Braun of Terror-Fi Films. Executive producers include Richard Fletcher of Libertine Pictures, Philippa Campbell, Ari Harrison, and Jasmin McSweeney of Umbrella Entertainment.

The original Black Sheep was released in 2006 and went on to become a cult favorite thanks to its outrageous combination of practical creature effects, gore, and absurd comedy.
