Stephen King’s Carrie is coming to Prime Video in just a few weeks, and now we know what each chapter of Mike Flanagan’s new adaptation will be called.

The upcoming series puts a new spin on King’s iconic 1974 novel, expanding the story into an eight-episode season rather than another feature-length adaptation.

Prime Video has now revealed the full list of episode titles, and at least a few of them offer some intriguing clues about what Flanagan has planned.

The first episode is titled “First Period,” a particularly fitting choice considering Carrie White’s first menstrual period plays a pivotal role in the story and coincides with the awakening of her telekinetic abilities.

Here’s the full episode lineup:

  • Episode 1 – “First Period”
  • Episode 2 – “Foreign Language”
  • Episode 3 – “Physical Education”
  • Episode 4 – “Home Economics”
  • Episode 5 – “AP Physics”
  • Episode 6 – “Guidance Counseling”
  • Episode 7 – “Advanced Placement”
  • Episode 8 – “Final Exam”

The titles certainly leave plenty of room for speculation. “Foreign Language” could hint at Carrie struggling to understand the world around her, while “Physical Education” may connect to her growing awareness of her abilities.

“Home Economics” could potentially point toward Carrie’s troubled relationship with her deeply religious mother, Margaret White, played by Samantha Sloyan. And considering Carrie’s increasingly powerful telekinesis, “AP Physics” sounds particularly appropriate.

The new series stars Summer H. Howell as Carrie, a bullied high school student raised by her fiercely religious and protective mother.

According to Prime Video, Carrie’s world is turned upside down after the sudden death of her father forces her into the brutal environment of public high school. There, she faces relentless bullying, a viral scandal and the pressures of social media while mysterious telekinetic powers begin emerging alongside her adolescence.

The cast also includes Siena Agudong, Alison Thornton, Joel Oulette, Josie Totah, Arthur Conti, Thalia Dudek, Amber Midthunder, and Matthew Lillard.

Flanagan has previously explained that the biggest opportunity with his version of Carrie is expanding the story beyond what audiences have already seen.

Rather than simply retelling Carrie’s familiar descent toward the infamous prom-night massacre, the series will explore the larger community of women surrounding her and themes of young women discovering their power and place in the world.

That expanded approach could help distinguish Flanagan’s Carrie from Brian De Palma’s legendary 1976 film starring Sissy Spacek, as well as the various sequels and subsequent adaptations.

Mike Flanagan’s Carrie premieres on Prime Video October 7.
