‘V/H/S/MIXTAPE’ Premieres on Shudder This October

The next entry in the long-running V/H/S franchise is officially on the way. While fans are still eagerly awaiting the previously announced V/H/S: SCP, it won’t be the next chapter in Shudder’s found-footage saga.

Instead, V/H/S/MIXTAPE is set to premiere exclusively on Shudder on October 9, 2026, delivering a terrifying anthology where music becomes the ultimate source of horror.

This latest installment features an impressive lineup of filmmakers, including Ernest Dickerson (Demon Knight), Flying Lotus (Ash), Ghost frontman Tobias Forge, David Moreau (MadS), RZA, and Renee Zhan. The film also features appearances from heavy metal legends GWAR, with creature effects created by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.

Flying Lotus contributes a series of music video interludes throughout the anthology, while Tobias Forge steps behind the camera to direct one of the film’s music videos, further emphasizing the project’s unique musical identity.

According to Shudder, V/H/S/MIXTAPE “turns the volume all the way up,” exploring how music, rhythm, and sound can haunt, possess, and destroy. The anthology promises a wild blend of cosmic horror, psychological suspense, brutal splatter, and stunning practical effects, creating one of the franchise’s most ambitious entries yet.

Since debuting in 2012, the V/H/S series has become one of horror’s most successful found-footage franchises. Previous installments include V/H/S/2, V/H/S: Viral, V/H/S/94, V/H/S/99, V/H/S/85, V/H/S/Beyond, and last year’s V/H/S/Halloween.

With V/H/S/MIXTAPE becoming the ninth film in the series, fans can expect another fresh collection of terrifying stories before the franchise eventually shifts its focus to the highly anticipated V/H/S: SCP, which is currently expected to arrive in 2027.

Will this music-inspired anthology become one of the franchise’s strongest entries? We’ll find out when V/H/S/MIXTAPE premieres on Shudder this October.

In May 2022, Francesco turned that lifelong passion into GoreCulture — a platform created not only to bring horror fans closer to the films, stories, and culture they love, but to give a voice and valuable exposure to talented filmmakers, creators, and artists whose work deserves to be discovered, regardless of how established they are.
