Parker Posey No Longer Starring in ‘Sleepover’ from ‘Insidious: Out of the Further’ Director
Parker Posey (Scream 3, The White Lotus) is no longer attached to Sleepover, the upcoming horror movie from Insidious: Out of the Further director Jacob Chase. The actress confirmed her departure during an awkward exchange on the Today show, where she surprised host Craig Melvin by revealing that she would not be appearing in the film after all.
Posey appeared on the show earlier this week to promote The Mob. When Melvin brought up her horror credits and asked about her next genre project, the conversation took an unexpected turn as the actress clarified that she was no longer involved with Sleepover.
Parker Posey Confirms She’s No Longer in Sleepover
During the interview, Melvin referenced Posey’s appearances in Scream 3 and Blade before asking her about the upcoming horror film.
“I’m not doing it,” Posey quickly responded.
Melvin appeared caught off guard, pointing to his cue cards and noting that the information in front of him listed her as part of Sleepover‘s cast. Posey reiterated that she was no longer attached to the project, explaining that something had come up.
The exchange comes after reports earlier this month announced Posey’s involvement in the film. No replacement has been announced, and further casting details have yet to be revealed.

What Is Sleepover About?
Plot details for Sleepover remain under wraps, although the film has been described as a “quintessential sleepover nightmare.”
Jacob Chase will direct the horror movie from a screenplay he co-wrote with Bryce McGuire, the writer behind Night Swim. The project is based on McGuire’s original short story, with the filmmakers keeping the specifics of the story under wraps for now.
Chase recently directed Insidious: Out of the Further, the sixth installment in the supernatural horror franchise. The film’s reported $170 million worldwide box office haul adds to the director’s growing connection to studio horror.
Blumhouse and Atomic Monster Are Behind the Horror Movie
Sleepover is backed by Jason Blum, who is producing the project. Chase, McGuire, and Bea Sequeira serve as executive producers.
The film is a Cinescape Entertainment production presented by Universal and Blumhouse Atomic Monster.
With Posey now out of the picture, the production’s next casting announcement will be worth watching. For now, the film’s premise, remaining cast, and release date have yet to be fully revealed.
