[TGS 2023] Dive into ‘Dragon’s Dogma 2’ Gameplay with a New World Overview Video [Watch]
At the Tokyo Game Show 2023, Director Hideaki Itsuno took the stage to kickstart Capcom’s presence and provide gamers with an in-depth look at the highly anticipated title, “Dragon’s Dogma 2.” In a comprehensive ten-minute video presentation, Itsuno delved into the game’s expansive world, shedding light on various gameplay aspects, including the intriguing Pawn AI companions, available vocations, and the two captivating nations awaiting exploration during the player’s epic journey.
As previously hinted in teaser videos, “Dragon’s Dogma 2” places players in charge of a party consisting of up to three AI companions known as Pawns. This ensemble includes the player’s customized main Pawn and the opportunity to recruit two additional Pawns from other players or offline sources. The key to success lies in skillfully organizing your party, ensuring that each member maximizes their unique strengths while compensating for the weaknesses of their companions. To start, players can choose from four vocations: Fighter, Archer, Thief, and Mage. The game empowers players to adapt and evolve, allowing them to alter the vocation of both their Arisen and main Pawn at any time by visiting Vocation Guilds scattered throughout the game world. As the adventure unfolds, new vocations become accessible, providing a deeper layer of customization.
Among the exciting revelations, the presentation introduced two additional vocations available to the player-controlled Arisen: the Magick Archer and the Mystic Spearhand. The Magick Archer boasts a versatile skillset capable of launching attacks, healing allies, and mastering custom skills that can unleash devastating area-of-effect assaults, albeit at the cost of reducing their maximum HP. On the other hand, the Mystic Spearhand wields the unique Duospear and harnesses magick to strike enemies from both close quarters and a distance, delivering punishing blows and casting spells capable of paralyzing foes or hurling multiple objects at them.
“Dragon’s Dogma 2” is currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC, with availability through Steam. Anticipation is building as fans eagerly await their chance to embark on this thrilling adventure through an expansive and dynamic world.
