Rumor: ‘Silent Hill 2’ Remake Possibly Arriving in Q1 2024?
In a recent development, Konami has addressed the confusion surrounding the pre-order listing for the Silent Hill 2 remake on Best Buy. The listing, which included references to Pyramid Head and a “special origin story,” has been deemed inaccurate by Konami. As a result, the mention of Pyramid Head and the “special origin story” has been removed from the listing.
The ongoing question that has been haunting Silent Hill fans revolves around Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake. Since its announcement last year, there has been a lack of concrete information regarding the game’s development progress and anticipated release date.
To shed light on this mystery, several sources have provided morsels of information, although they may not be definitive, offering hints about the remake and its potential launch.
Firstly, pre-orders for the game briefly appeared on the Canadian version of the Best Buy website. The listing featured a game summary, a price of $89.99 in Canadian Dollars, and the box art. The summary mentioned the return of Pyramid Head and a “special origin story” for fans to experience. The interpretation of this statement varies, as it could either indicate additional content related to the origins of Pyramid Head or allude to the “Born From a Wish” scenario that was previously included in special editions and re-releases of Silent Hill 2.
The listing also displayed a release date of December 31, 2025, which is likely a placeholder date.
Things take an intriguing turn with information from PCGameBenchmark, which not only provided the system requirements for the remake but initially listed a release date of March 21, 2024. Although there’s no corroborating source for this information, the website referred to a PCGamesN article asserting that the game would launch in Q1 2024.
However, it’s worth noting that the PCGamesN article previously mentioned a release date announcement during an October Silent Hill Transmission stream, which never materialized.
Adding to the mystery, a user known as Retro to Hero noted that PCGameBenchmark altered its release date listing from March 21, 2024, to September 21, 2001, coinciding with the original game’s release date. Speculation abounds, but until Konami or Bloober Team officially announce details, Silent Hill fans will have to remain patient.
It’s essential to mention that Silent Hill 2 is currently in development for PC via Steam and the PlayStation 5, with the Xbox Series release date yet to be confirmed.
