Friday the 13th: The Game’s License Is Set to Expire

Earlier this month, it was reported that a new Friday the 13th video game will be released by a brand new development company, and long-time Friday the 13th musical composer, Harry Manfredini, has been tied to the project. The developers of Friday the 13th: The Game, Gun Interactive, will not be involved with the development process of the new game. However, upon the news on the release of the new game underway, Gun Interactive released an announcement via social media that the license for their Friday the 13th: The Game will be expiring at the end of 2023.

After December 31, 2023, the game and its downloadable content will no longer be available to purchase.  The overall game will still function up until December 31, 2024.  After December 31, 2024, it is unknown if the game will be playable and if so, how functional it’ll be with everything shutting down.  If you have since purchased the game, you can play it till the end of 2024.  If you hadn’t picked up your copy, you can do so for $4.99 and get any of the downloadable content for just 99 cents.

It’s heartbreaking that the game will cease to exist, but with a new game underway and the legalities of the franchise being over, the future for the Friday the 13th franchise is looking good!
