Developers Confirm Conclusion of New Content for ‘Evil Dead: The Game’
Just a little over a year after the battle against the Deadites began, the creators of “Evil Dead: The Game” have regrettably announced that they will no longer be developing new content for the game.
Saber, the development team, has conveyed this decision through an official statement, stating, “Today, we have made the decision not to pursue the development of new content for Evil Dead: The Game. We also confirm that we will not be releasing a Nintendo Switch version of the game.”
The statement goes on to mention, “We will maintain the game servers for the foreseeable future and address any significant issues that may arise. On behalf of the entire Saber team, we express our gratitude for all the fantastic times and your unwavering support.”
“Evil Dead: The Game” is an asymmetrical multiplayer experience that made its official debut in May 2022. Developed by Boss Team Games and Saber Interactive, the game offers both single-player and cooperative gameplay, aiming to provide players with the ultimate Evil Dead experience in the realm of video games.
Upon its launch, the game featured various characters from the Evil Dead movies and TV series, including four different incarnations of the Deadite-slaying hero, Ash Williams.
Over the past year, the game received post-launch content updates, which introduced new survivors, including characters from the 2013 remake, and an additional map inspired by “Army of Darkness.” However, it has been some time since any new content was added to the game, despite the recent return of the Evil Dead franchise to the silver screen with the successful release of “Evil Dead Rise.”
It’s reasonable to assume that Saber arrived at this challenging decision due to a decline in player activity, a common challenge for multiplayer games of this nature.
In “Evil Dead: The Game,” players had the opportunity to either work together as a team of four survivors, engaging in activities such as exploration, looting, crafting, fear management, and the retrieval of key artifacts to seal interdimensional breaches. Alternatively, they could assume the role of the formidable Kandarian Demon, hunting down Ash and his comrades, all while possessing Deadites, manipulating the environment, and even taking control of the survivors themselves as they sought to claim their souls.
