‘Alien: Blackout’ Mobile Game Scheduled for Removal from App Stores on October 31
505 Games Inc.’s mobile action-adventure title, ‘Alien: Blackout,’ is set to be discontinued at the end of this month, marking five years since its initial launch. An official announcement from the game’s X account delivered this news to the player community, detailing that ‘Alien: Blackout’ will remain available for purchase on iOS and Android devices for a price of $0.99 USD until October 31.
The statement reads, ‘We have made the difficult decision to discontinue ‘Alien: Blackout.’ To provide ample time for our players to wrap up their in-game journeys, the game will continue to be accessible on the App Store, Google Play, and Amazon store for the next 30 days, with the discontinuation scheduled for October 31, 2023. Beyond this date, all development and support for the game will cease, and the game will be removed from the App Store, Google Play, and Amazon store. However, it will remain playable for those who purchased it before the discontinuation.’
The statement expresses gratitude to players and the teams involved, acknowledging the thrilling adventure shared with them.
‘Alien: Blackout’ unfolds its story after the events of ‘Alien: Isolation’ (although it’s emphasized that it is not a direct sequel to ‘Isolation’). The game follows Amanda, the daughter of Ellen Ripley, who finds herself trapped on a Weyland-Yutani research station that also happens to be infested with Xenomorphs.
In a gameplay approach reminiscent of ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s,’ players must guide the crew to safety by utilizing the damaged controls of the space station to manage power and secure doors to shield against Xenomorph attacks. However, they must make strategic choices since they have limited power to allocate.”
