The highly anticipated STARZ series Sweetpea—a “deviously twisted coming-of-rage story”—is set to premiere this October, and the official teaser trailer has just been released.
Ella Purnell (Yellowjackets, Fallout, Sweetbitter) stars as Rhiannon Lewis, a seemingly invisible woman who discovers a thrilling and liberating taste for murder.
In Sweetpea, Rhiannon is frequently overlooked: she’s passed over for promotions, struggles with an uncommitted love interest, and faces her father’s severe illness. But her life takes a dramatic turn, pushing her to the brink and transforming her from a passive wallflower into a formidable force. As she embraces her newfound power, she must navigate the dangers of keeping her murderous secret.
The cast also features Nicôle Lecky (*Mood*, *Sense8*) as Julia, Jon Pointing (*Big Boys*, *Smothered*) as Craig, Calam Lynch (*Bridgerton*) as AJ, Leah Harvey (*Foundation*) as Marina, Jeremy Swift (*Ted Lasso*) as Norman, and Dustin Demri-Burns (*Slow Horses*) as Jeff.
Purnell, who is also an executive producer on the series, shared her excitement: “I can’t wait for the world to experience Sweetpea! Exploring this complex character and working with such a talented cast and our amazing team—Ella Jones, Kristie Swain, and Patrick Walters—has been incredibly rewarding. The series centers on a woman discovering her voice through a darkly comedic lens, and I hope viewers enjoy Rhiannon Lewis’ wild journey as much as we enjoyed bringing it to life.”
Sweetpea is a six-part series produced by See-Saw Films and fanboy in association with Sky Studios. Adapted from C.J. Skuse’s cult novel by Executive Producer Kirstie Swain (Pure), the show’s writing team includes Swain, Krissie Ducker (Killing Eve), Laura Jayne Tunbridge, and Selina Lim (Sex Education, *Hanna*). The series is directed by award-winning director Ella Jones (The Baby, Back To Life), who also serves as an Executive Producer.
The series will debut as a STARZ original in the U.S. and Canada in October 2024.
