Season 2 of Disney+ ‘Goosebumps’ Series Confirmed, Featuring Fresh Cast and Setting
The thrilling R.L. Stine-inspired Disney+ series “Goosebumps” is set to return for a second season, bringing fresh scares and mysteries to audiences, as revealed over the weekend. However, this time around, there will be a new cast and setting, adding a new layer of intrigue to the beloved anthology series.
According to Variety, the announcement was made during the Disney Branded Television presentation at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. The upcoming season will consist of eight episodes, a slight reduction from the first season’s ten, and will take an anthology approach. This means that Season 2 will introduce an entirely new cast and setting, drawing inspiration from R.L. Stine’s iconic Scholastic book series.
“Audiences everywhere fell in love with the series’ chills, thrills, heart and humor, making it one of Disney Branded Television’s most-watched shows of last year,” expressed Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television. “We can’t wait to dive deeper into the brilliant mind of R.L. Stine, and to collaborate once again with Sony Pictures Television, Scholastic Entertainment, and our fantastic creative team to bring an entirely new mystery to Disney+ for season two.”
The official synopsis for “Goosebumps” Season 2 teases an intriguing plot: “Teenage siblings discover a threat within their home, setting off a chain of events that unravel a profound mystery. As they delve into the unknown, the duo find themselves entangled in the story of five teenagers who mysteriously vanished in 1994.”
Katherine Pope, president of Sony Pictures Television Studios, expressed pride in the first season’s success and excitement for the series’ evolution. “Like when you cracked open a new book in the ‘Goosebumps’ series, we can’t wait to see how the writers flip the show on its head as we explore the series as an anthology.”
The first season of the “Goosebumps” series followed a group of high schoolers as they investigated the mysterious death of a teen named Harold Biddle while uncovering dark secrets from their parents’ past.
Nicholas Stoller and Rob Letterman developed the series and serve as executive producers, alongside an esteemed team of creatives including Hilary Winston, Neal H. Moritz, Iole Lucchese, Pavun Shetty, Conor Welch, Caitlin Friedman, Erin O’Malley, Kevin Murphy, James Eagan, and Nick Adams.
