Netflix Reportedly Exploring an Uncle Fester Spinoff Series from ‘Wednesday’
Jenna Ortega’s starring role in “Wednesday” has become a massive success for Netflix, and it seems the streaming giant is brewing up its very own Addams Family Universe.
In tandem with the awaited “Wednesday” Season 2, which is rumored to delve deeper into horror elements, Bloomberg reveals Netflix’s contemplation of an Uncle Fester spinoff series.
According to Bloomberg, discussions have surfaced about another Addams Family project, potentially centered on Uncle Fester, portrayed by Fred Armisen in the series. As with any show in its early stages, there’s no certainty of the Uncle Fester spinoff’s realization.
“The writers need to craft the story, talent contracts require negotiation, and everyone’s schedules need alignment,” the report details. “But Netflix is keen on establishing a lineup of Addams Family content, building on the triumph of ‘Wednesday.'”
Uncle Fester holds a cherished place in “The Addams Family” lore, justifying Netflix’s interest in exploring a series focused solely on the quirky character.
Updates on this developing story will follow as they emerge.
In Tim Burton’s Netflix series, Jenna Ortega takes the lead as Wednesday Addams, alongside Luis Guzmán as Gomez and Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia. Christina Ricci, who portrayed Wednesday Addams in the ’90s, also makes an appearance in the series.
“Wednesday” unfolds as a supernatural mystery, chronicling Wednesday’s time at Nevermore Academy. It navigates her journey to harness her emerging psychic abilities, halt a spree of monstrous killings haunting the local town, and uncover the enigmatic supernatural puzzle that entangled her parents 25 years ago — all while managing complicated new relationships.
The show is helmed by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (“Smallville”), who serve as both writers and showrunners.
