Godzilla is set to make a roaring return in the upcoming Apple TV+ series “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” from Legendary Television. This small screen expansion of the “MonsterVerse” will revolve around Godzilla and other Titans, and a brand new official trailer was unveiled at this year’s NYCC.

The trailer provides a glimpse into a world in turmoil, with Monarch seemingly involved in questionable activities. It appears that a particular Titan is stepping in to save the day, and he’s joined by none other than Kurt Russell.

“Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” is scheduled to premiere on November 17, 2023, exclusively on Apple TV+. The highly anticipated sci-fi drama series will consist of 10 episodes, and it will explore a captivating narrative:

“After the colossal battle between Godzilla and the Titans, which devastated San Francisco and revealed the existence of real-life monsters, ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ follows two siblings as they follow in their father’s footsteps to unveil their family’s ties to the enigmatic organization known as Monarch.

A trail of clues leads them into the realm of monsters and down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (portrayed by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), with events spanning the 1950s and half a century later, where Monarch faces a menacing threat tied to Shaw’s knowledge.

This dramatic saga, spanning three generations, will uncover long-buried secrets and demonstrate how colossal, world-changing events can echo through our lives.”

The series features an ensemble cast including Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski alongside Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell.

“Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” is co-developed by Chris Black (“Severance,” “Star Trek: Enterprise,” “Outcast”) and Matt Fraction (“Hawkeye”), with the first two episodes directed by Matt Shakman (“Wandavision”). The project is produced by Legendary Television and Toho Co. Ltd.

Following its theatrical debut, “Godzilla vs. Kong” became the fourth installment in the MonsterVerse, commencing with “Godzilla” in 2014 and continuing with “Kong: Skull Island” in 2017 and “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” in 2019.

Audiences can unravel the mysteries of Monarch when the first two episodes premiere on November 17, with subsequent episodes releasing weekly until January 12, 2024.
