Max Unveils First Glimpse of “Welcome to Derry” in 2024/2025 Preview Video
Max, the streaming giant, has just dropped its official 2024/2025 Preview video, tantalizing viewers with the very FIRST peek at “Welcome to Derry,” the IT prequel series.
Scheduled for a 2025 premiere, the series serves as a precursor to the two cinematic IT adaptations helmed by Andy Muschietti, drawing inspiration from Stephen King’s chilling universe.
In this initial footage from “Welcome to Derry,” we catch glimpses of kids on bicycles, a haunting red balloon, and an eerie entity that sends chills down the spine—a quintessential portrayal of King’s iconic IT.
Behind this Pennywise prequel are Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs, all actively involved in the production, with Muschietti set to direct multiple episodes.
Taylour Paige (Zola), Jovan Adepo (“Watchmen”), Chris Chalk (“Perry Mason”), James Remar (Oppenheimer), Madeleine Stowe (Revenge), and Stephen Rider (Daredevil) take the lead in this chilling saga.
Last year, Variety hinted, “The series will delve into the 1960s era, preceding the events of It: Part One, the 2017 film based on Stephen King’s horror novel, exploring the origin tale of Pennywise the Clown.”
Jason Fuchs (known for Wonder Woman and Ice Age: Continental Drift) and Brad Caleb Kane (“Moonhaven,” “Black Sails,” “Fringe”) are teaming up as co-showrunners for this spine-tingling prequel series.
Originally published in 1986, Stephen King’s gripping novel saw an adaptation as a mini-series in 1990, featuring Tim Curry as the role later taken on by Bill Skarsgård in the movies.
The narrative revolves around Derry, Maine, where the Losers’ Club, a group of childhood friends, confronts the terror of Pennywise, the malevolent clown, as children and then, after 27 years, as adults.
Max’s preview video, showcased below, also offers sneak peeks into “Pretty Little Liars: Summer School,” continuing the horror-inspired storytelling of “Original Sin.”
Furthermore, the video teases a slate of forthcoming shows catering to the horror enthusiast, including “The Last of Us” Season 2, “True Detective: Night Country,” and “The Penguin.”
With the promise of even greater thrills ahead, the streaming service delivers an exciting lineup bound to captivate audiences.
