Max Continues Development on ‘Conjuring’ TV Series
The Conjuring Universe continues to expand its eerie empire with the revelation of a ninth film currently in the works. Michael Chaves, known for his directorial prowess in “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It” and “The Nun II,” is set to helm “The Conjuring 4,” purportedly the climax of the main series.
But the frights don’t stop there. In a bid to bring the spine-chilling saga to the small screen, The Conjuring is making its way to Max. Originally announced in April 2023, development of the series persists into 2024.
Max’s Casey Bloys divulges to Variety this week, “There are other properties [in development] like The Conjuring, which is a big movie franchise that we’re developing into a series.”
After a prolonged silence on Max’s planned television adaptation of The Conjuring, the reassurance of ongoing efforts is a welcome whisper of anticipation. Expect further updates in due course.
Under the stewardship of Peter Safran, the horror-drama series, based on New Line Cinema’s acclaimed film franchise, is poised to “continue the story established in the feature films.”
James Wan’s Atomic Monster Productions and Peter Safran’s The Safran Company are set to produce the franchise’s inaugural foray into the small screen, in collaboration with WBTV.
Rooted in the real-life case files of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, portrayed by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, respectively, The Conjuring films have captivated audiences with their spine-tingling narratives.
The Conjuring Universe currently spans eight films, including “The Conjuring,” “Annabelle,” “The Conjuring 2,” “Annabelle: Creation,” “The Nun,” “Annabelle Comes Home,” and “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.” The eighth installment, “The Nun 2,” debuted just last year, solidifying the franchise’s enduring grip on the horror genre.
