In a delightful surprise for horror enthusiasts, October’s Friday the 13th lineup just got even more thrilling with the announcement of John Carpenter’s upcoming Peacock series, “John Carpenter’s Suburban Screams.”

This unscripted series, set to premiere on October 13 on Peacock, emerges from the brilliant mind of the legendary horror director, writer, and producer, John Carpenter.

“John Carpenter’s Suburban Screams” is described as a genre-defying unscripted horror anthology series that delves into the chilling mysteries and unspeakable malevolence lurking beneath the surface of seemingly idyllic suburban landscapes. Each episode unfolds a true tale of terror, narrated by the individuals who experienced it firsthand. These spine-tingling accounts are brought to life through cinematic reenactments, news clips, personal photographs, and archival footage. The series seamlessly blends the visual language of horror films with the storytelling techniques of documentaries, promising a uniquely frightening experience for viewers.

“Every episode will immerse viewers in the monstrous darkness concealed within seemingly friendly suburbia, as recounted in a single terrifying tale. These episodes will feature not only firsthand narratives but also cinematic recreations, personal archives, and historical town press coverage.”

In this six-episode series, the horror maestro himself, John Carpenter, takes the director’s chair for one of the episodes. He collaborates with showrunner Jordan Roberts, along with Michelle Latimer and Jan Pavlacky.

Carpenter’s signature touch extends to the series’ theme music, ensuring that fans of his iconic soundtracks have something to look forward to.

“John Carpenter’s Suburban Screams” is a production of Storm King Productions and DIGA Studios, boasting an executive producer lineup that includes John Carpenter, Sandy King, Tony DiSanto, Jordan Roberts, Patrick Smith, and Andy Portnoy.

With the jam-packed horror offerings of October’s Friday the 13th, it’s safe to say that sleep may not be high on the agenda for that weekend. But for fans of John Carpenter, the prospect of his return to the director’s chair, even for a single episode, is more than worth it.

Make sure not to miss the spine-tingling journey of “John Carpenter’s Suburban Screams” when it debuts on Peacock next month.
