Over the weekend, the winners of the 2023 Creative Arts Emmys were announced. HBO’s The Last of Us and Hulu’s Prey won a combined 9 total awards in several categories. While this may not be much of a shock, it is always great to see the horror genre getting the recognition that it deserves.

The Last of Us, which debuted on streaming service Max won big and brought in a total of 8 awards. This includes Outstanding Guest Actress (Storm Reid), Outstanding Guest Actor (Nick Offerman), Outstanding Main Title Design, Special Visual Effects in a Season or Movie, Prosthetic Makeup, Sound Editing and Sound Mixing for a comedy or drama series, and Picture Editing for a Drama Series.

Prey, which debuted on streaming service Hulu was nominated in a total of six categories and won one award. It won Outstanding Sound Editing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. This marks the first time that any film in the Predator franchise has won an Emmy.
