Filming for Season 5 of “Stranger Things” Set to Commence in January
Filming for the highly anticipated fifth and final season of Netflix’s “Stranger Things” faced delays due to the writers’ and actors’ strikes earlier this year. However, with the strikes now resolved, production is revving up, and according to Deadline, “Stranger Things” Season 5 is set to start filming in January. The anticipated shoot is expected to kick off either on January 5th or 8th, with the cast already prepping in Atlanta, where the show is filmed, and table reads scheduled in the coming weeks.
Most of the writing had been wrapped before the writers’ strike occurred. However, the Duffer Brothers, creators and showrunners, decided to delay production rather than proceed without writers on set. Once the strikes concluded, Netflix prioritized completing the scripts for both “Stranger Things” Season 5 and “Wednesday Season 2.”
David Harbour, a cast member, had previously mentioned that filming would commence shortly, but due to the delays caused by the strikes, the timeline shifted.
The ensemble cast, featuring Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, and others, is set to reprise their roles from Season 4. Additionally, Linda Hamilton joins the cast, while director Dan Trachtenberg will helm an episode.
“Stranger Things” is a production of Monkey Massacre Productions and 21 Laps Entertainment, with The Duffer Brothers, Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, Iain Paterson, and Curtis Gwinn serving as executive producers.
